🔹PANDA EXPRESS ALL DAY DINING FUNDRAISER
Panda Express, located at 3029 Meridian Avenue, SJ, is hosting Booksin’s next all day dining out fundraiser! On Thursday, January 15th, order online using the fundraising code 3842559, or dine in at the restaurant and show the following flyer. Panda Express will donate 20% of your purchase back to Booksin! 🔹BOOK EXCHANGE
Did your child get new books over the break and they are looking to share some of their old books? Save them for the book exchange on Thursday, January 29th! The annual Booksin Book Exchange is a wonderful opportunity to clear out gently used books and donate them to other children in our school community. During the exchange, every student will have the chance to pick out a free book to take home and enjoy! We’ll be collecting book donations STARTING Tuesday, January 20 through Tuesday, January 27.
🔹BARRACUDAS GAME
Join us for Booksin’s Night with the San Jose Barracudas on Saturday, January 24th at 6:00pm at Tech CU Arena! The SJ Barracudas will be playing the Bakersfield Condors. Tickets are $22 per person and the evening will include the following special events for Booksin:
- Free youth jerseys for the first 2,000 fans under 16 y/o
- CUDA Olympics Events
- See Louie the Bulldog ride on the Zamboni
- Frenzy (Barracudas mascot) visits during the game
- Booksin shout-outs on the big screen
- Booksin group photo on the ice, after the game

🔹BOOK FAIR RECAP
December's Book Fair made a real impact! Hicklebee’s Bookstore generously returns 25% of all Booksin book fair sales to our library. Because of your support, our school library will receive approximately $4,800 in Hicklebee’s book store credit which means more updated books, replacements for well-loved titles, and fresh options that reflect our students’ interests. Thank you for helping strengthen our library and supporting our readers!
🔹BESCA BYLAWS
Each school year BESCA reviews our association’s bylaws, and about every three years we make updates to keep them aligned with how we operate as well as with SJUSD requirements for school-connected organizations. The proposed amendments for 2025-2026 are available for review and comment HERE. Please open the document in “comments” mode so you can see the suggested changes and the reasoning behind them. The update process is several months long and includes an initial executive board vote and review by our principal and the teacher advisory committee. The final vote by the general membership will be held at the next BESCA General Meeting on Friday, January 23rd and requires a two-thirds approval of all members present.
