📣 ANNOUNCEMENTS

🔹WALKATHON ROUND-UP! 
The much anticipated Booksin Walkathon is only one month away, on Saturday, October 18!  There are several ways to support and get involved with the Walkathon – and we need your help!! 

🌿Collect Pledges
Each student helps fundraise by collecting pledges from family, friends and neighbors. Sign up on Pledgestar today to send email and text requests for donations. Pledges are a flat rate donation, not per mile. To help us reach our goal, we aim for a donation of $500 per student. Pledgestar is now open!  

🌿Donate to the Silent Auction
In order to make our auction successful, we are seeking donations for goods or services! Please consider supporting us by donating personally or asking friends, family, or contacts you have at local businesses for donations. BESCA is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. 

🌿Donate a "Fun with Friends" Activity
We are looking for more event hosts! Plan an activity or party, pick the date & time, and determine the price per guest. During the Walkathon Silent Auction, friends old & new can buy a ticket to attend your event! You (and optional co-hosts) host your event and all proceeds go to BESCA. These small events are one of the most fun ways to support our school!

🌿Enter the "Teacher Fun Drawing"
The Teacher Fun Drawing (TFD) gives students the chance to win a fun and unique experience with their current teacher or Principal Tan and Vice Principal Hsieh.  Families can buy one or more entries to this raffle style drawing. Due to state laws around nonprofit raffles, tickets cannot be sold online and can only be purchased via order form or in-person (cash or check)

        🌿Purchase a Walkathon Shirt
You may have seen school staff and our walkathon leads sporting the 2025 Walkathon shirt - now join in the fun and support our Walkathon by purchasing t-shirts for the whole family!  This green crewneck cotton shirt has a custom Booksin 2025 Walkathon “Louie’s Jungle Cruise” design designed by Booksin parent, Dan Cooper.  Remember:  Booksin students DO NOT need to order a t-shirt. Every student will receive a free t-shirt as part of their participation in Walkathon, so no need to purchase. T-shirts will be sent home with the designated student the week of October 13th.

🔹YEARBOOK
1. Yearbook Volunteers Orientation
If you are a new yearbook volunteer or if you are returning and need a refresher, please join our Yearbook Lead, Karen Wong, for ONE of our two yearbook volunteer orientations. Meetings will take place virtually this Wednesday, September 17th at 10:00am OR 7:00pm. We will record the morning session.

2. Yearbook Lead Shadow Still Needed!
This school year is Karen Wong's last year at Booksin, and BESCA will be seeking a new parent to take on the important role of Yearbook Lead next school year. The Shadow position does not have much work to do this year unless you want to be more involved. You will follow along with the process and stay connected with emails and communications with the team. There is a clear process and it is well organized. You do not need professional graphic design experience to be the Yearbook Lead. If you have an eye for design, an interest in learning, strong organizational skills and attention to details, and the ability to meet deadlines, we’d love to hear from you. Email Karen Wong at yearbook@mybesca.com to learn more about the role. 

🔹BUY YOUR TICKETS FOR FAMILY BINGO NIGHT
BESCA’s Family Bingo Night is back! Join us this Friday, September 19th for a night of laughter, excitement, and plenty of chances to win. We will have two fun filled sessions: 
  • Session 1: 5pm - 5:45pm
  • Session 2: 6pm - 6:45pm
Each session includes multiple bingo rounds, which means lots of winners and awesome prizes! Tickets are just $5 per person per session. Get your tickets HERE! 

We are still looking for volunteers to help at Bingo Night! You do not need to be a cleared volunteer because it is after school hours. It is a super fun and very easy way to get involved and start volunteering! Feel free to sign up for one or both of the two sessions. Sign up here to help make the event a success!

At Booksin, we are fortunate to have amazing dining night out fundraisers throughout the school year. If you like to plan ahead, look forward to taking a night off cooking, or love socializing with friends and family over a meal, please see below for a complete list our 2025-2026 Dining Night Out fundraisers!


🔹ICICLES ALL DAY DINING FUNDRAISER
Our next dining fundraiser is a sweet treat. On Thursday, September 25th, head on over to Icicles at 1275 Lincoln Avenue, order some yummy ice cream, mention you're from Booksin and Icicles will donate 20% of your purchase back to BESCA!


🔹"LET ME RUN!" REGISTRATION
Through the power of running, the "Let Me Run" athletic program inspires boys (4th-5th grades) to be courageous, live an active lifestyle, and build healthy relationships. The team will train afterschool on Tues/Thurs from 2:15-3:30pm for 7 weeks (14 sessions) culminating in an end of season 5K run. The season begins for Booksin students on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
