UPCOMING EVENTS
Tuesday, 9/3 @ 8:15-9:15am Project Cornerstone Volunteer Orientation (In person, Cafeteria)
Mandatory for all Project Cornerstone Volunteers; please contact Leads if unable to attend. The meeting agenda will include introductions, a discussion of program details, training on the monthly book for your first classroom lesson, and a Q&A.

Friday, 9/6 @ 7:00pm Booksin Movie Night - Encanto
Join us in the Spirit Court for a viewing of the Disney family favorite, Encanto! Spiritwear, concessions, and food trucks will be available. Feel free to bring your own picnic/dinner if you would like. Doors open at 7:00pm with the movie beginning at approximately 7:45pm. Tickets are $5 per person, please purchase tickets in advance here. We are also still looking for parent volunteers to help with the movie, view openings and sign up here.

Mandatory for all Art Volunteers; please contact Leads if no one from your group is able to attend. If you are a new or returning Art Parent or are considering taking on this role, please attend ONE of the two orientations with our Art Leads, Nancy Crawford and Kendra Penhallegon. We will be going over the role of art docents in detail. Art lessons begin the following week! Email Nancy and Kendra at art@mybesca.com with any questions.
Thursday, 9/13 @6:00-9:00pm Booksin Parents Night Out at Hapa’s Brewery
BESCA invites the Booksin community to an adults-only social at Hapa's Brewing Company in Willow Glen. This evening event offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow Booksin parents in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Enjoy an assortment of craft beers, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks with good conversation for a casual night out as you build new friendships and strengthen our school community. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance here.

General BESCA Meeting Minutes and Recordings

Classroom Volunteers
Art and Garden schedules are viewable in your class calendar on Konstella. Some classes are still actively recruiting for parent volunteers. View volunteer openings and sign up in Konstella under the Committees section.
Volunteer Screening Process
A reminder that all new and returning on-campus volunteers (including chaperoning field trips) must register with San Jose Unified School District (SJUSD) before volunteering on campus during school hours. All volunteers must have TB clearance and fingerprint/background check clearance. For details on how to register go to the Volunteer section on the SJUSD Parent Resources website. If you have any volunteer-related questions, please contact Kayla Monk, VP of Volunteers, at volunteers@mybesca.com.
Walkathon (WAT)

In mid-September, we will open the sign ups for volunteer positions on Konstella. Once they’re up, please review and sign up for position(s) that interest you. Look under “Committees,” then select “Walkathon Team” on Konstella.
Walkathon T-shirts
As part of the walkathon, every Booksin student receives a free Walkathon themed t-shirt to wear at the event. Shirts will be distributed a couple days before WAT. T-shirt sizes are ordered by grade level as follows:
T-Shirt Sizes
TK - Youth XS
Kinder – Youth S
1 st Grade – Youth S
2 nd Grade – Youth M
3 rd Grade – Youth M
4 th Grade – Youth L
5 th Grade – Youth XL (boys) or Youth L (girls)
**If your Booksin student does NOT fit the size assigned, please email walkathonshirts@mybesca.com with the student’s name, teacher, and size correction by Friday, September 6th.
Did you know you can also join in the fun and support our Walkathon by purchasing t-shirts for the whole family? Visit the Besca Shop to place your order. T-shirts will be sent home with the designated student on t-shirt distribution day. Place your order by Friday, September 6th.
Junior & Alumni Walkers
We offer a Junior and Alumni walker program so the whole family can participate in all the fun and excitement of the Walkathon experience. Younger siblings (ages 3-5, not yet enrolled at Booksin) can register as Junior Walkers, and non-students (including Booksin Alumni and older siblings) may register as Alumni Walkers.For $35, participants receive their own Walkathon t-shirt and a souvenir Lap Card. They will also be eligible for mileage prizes at miles 1, 5 and 10, as well as all food prizes listed on the back of the Lap Card. If you prefer to participate without a t-shirt, the cost is $20 per participant. You may purchase a junior or alumni walker ticket at the Besca Shop. Sign up by September 6th!
All walkers require a signed permission slip and should check in at the registration table upon arrival.
