CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS

Parent volunteers are a big part of what makes Booksin such an amazing school community! Still thinking about which volunteer role might be right for you? If you are interested in working closely with your teacher to organize celebrations and other classroom activities, consider a role as a Room Parent! Interested parents should speak directly to their teacher. For families who are able to give 1.5 hrs/month and are interested in working with the students in their child’s classroom, consider a role as an Art Docent, Garden parent, or Cornerstone reader! We are also seeking volunteers to help 1x weekly during their class library time as well as one parent per class to help with taking and organizing pictures for the yearbook. For any of these positions, you can sign up directly in Konstella in the Committees section. We appreciate all of our amazing parent volunteers!

Volunteer Screening Process

A reminder that all new and returning on-campus volunteers (including chaperoning field trips) must register with San Jose Unified School District (SJUSD) before volunteering on campus during school hours.   All volunteers must have TB clearance and fingerprint/background check clearance. For details on how to register go to the Volunteer section on the SJUSD Parent Resources website. If you have any volunteer-related questions, please contact Kayla Monk, VP of Volunteers, at volunteers@mybesca.com.

WALKATHON (WAT)

The 37th annual Walkathon is Louie’s Highflying Adventure.  Mark your calendars for October 19, 2024!

Walkathon is all-hands-on-deck and we need everyone’s help to make this event a great success! Join us for a Walkathon informational meeting via Webex on Wednesday, August 21 at 9:00am OR Thursday, August 22 at 7:00pm. This meeting is for Walkathon Leads, prospective committee volunteers, and anyone who is interested in learning more about how this event comes together. The WebEx details for both meetings are posted on the Konstella calendar

The Walkathon Sponsorship Team is looking for sponsors! If you have a business, know a local business, or your family would like to become a sponsor, please reach out to the Sponsorship Team at sponsorship@mybesca.com or visit www.mybesca.com/sponsorship for more information. Support for this amazing community event helps raise awareness of local businesses among our large school community while also supporting a very worthwhile cause. Sponsorship levels range from $350-$1,000.

In the coming weeks, Volunteer lead positions, descriptions, and sign-ups will be posted on Konstella. Once they’re up, please review and sign up for position(s) that interest you. Look under “Committees,” then select “Walkathon Team” on Konstella.

CLASSROOM SUPPLIES

Please visit TeacherLists.com to purchase supplies to donate to your child’s classroom. Teacher Lists allows you to build a cart of all the appropriate supplies at your favorite retailer. Visit the BESCA website for more information.

KONSTELLA: ADD YOUR CHILD TO A CLASSROOM

Konstella is the communication app we use to share information about upcoming events and activities and ways to get involved throughout the year. From a mobile device, tap the gear in the upper left corner and then your name. From a web browser, simply click your name in the upper left. Then select “Your Children.” Near the bottom you’ll see “Classroom,” and you’ll want to “Add Classroom.” Select your teacher from the list.

See how to do it here
