WELCOME BACK MEETING SLIDES
Thank you to everyone who joined one of our BESCA Welcome Back Meetings last Thurs and Friday and helped kick off the school year on such a positive note! If you couldn’t make it, you can still catch up on some important updates and information about BESCA and Booksin by reviewing the slides from Friday's returning families meeting here.
KONSTELLA CLASSROOMS
If you haven’t already, please make sure your child is assigned to their correct classroom in Konstella. Click here to learn how. This helps us keep information accurate and ensures that only current families have access. To protect the privacy of our school community, we remove users who are no longer attending Booksin.
MERCH 'N MUNCH
Kick off the new school year with BESCA at this year’s Merch ‘N Munch on Friday, August 15 from 2:06-4:00 pm. We’ll have some of last year’s favorite merch designs plus new items in both kids and adult sizes! Purchase tasty treats from Kona Ice, Teaspoon Boba, and Moxie Bakery cake pops and don't miss your chance to snap a photo with Louie the Bulldog during his first appearance of the year. Join us on the blacktop near the basketball courts and playground to shop, snack, and socialize, see you there!
SJUSD VOLUNTEER CLEARANCE
Booksin offers many ways for parents to get involved: from teaching art or garden to chaperoning field trips to lending a hand at school-wide events. To volunteer on campus during school hours, you must be cleared by San José Unified School District annually. If you haven't already done so, please use this link to fill out the necessary forms for the 2025-2026 school year. For more information, visit the "volunteer" section of BESCA's website.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAM VOLUNTEER SIGN-UPS OPEN NEXT WEEK
Our VP of Volunteers and Booksin staff are finalizing the schedule for this year’s BESCA-funded enrichment classes. This week, we’ll be adding the day and time for each class into Konstella so you can check your availability before signing up. Volunteer sign-ups for Art@BESCA, Garden, Library Helpers, Project Cornerstone, and Yearbook will open on Monday, August 18th to all parents/guardians through Konstella. If you’d like to be a Room Parent, please reach out to your teacher directly. Teacher approval is required for this role and teachers will submit approved names to the VP of Volunteers for group access.
Note: Some users have reported some sign-ups showing as “open” in Konstella before 8/18 due to a system glitch. To keep things fair for everyone, we’ll clear any early sign-ups and reopen all spots on 8/18. Thanks for your understanding.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
Mark your calendars for Booksin’s Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 19th. Back to school night is an opportunity for parents/guardians to visit their child's classroom to meet the teacher, learn about the curriculum, and understand classroom expectations for the upcoming school year. Students do not attend. If you have specific questions in regards to your child, you may contact your child’s teacher via email. Here is the schedule for the evening:
- 3rd-5th Grades: 6:00pm-6:45pm
- Principal’s Remarks (in the Spirit Court): 6:45pm-7:00pm
- TK-2nd Grade: 7:00 pm-7:45 pm
WALKATHON INFORMATIONAL MEETING
The 38th annual Booksin Walkathon (WAT) is on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Our WAT leads, Erin Strong and Audrey Hall, are hosting a virtual kick-off informational meeting on Thursday, August 21 at 7:30pm via Webex. Come hear about all the exciting things taking place at this year’s walkathon including open lead positions. Use this link to join this short, informative meeting.
ALL DAY DINING FUNDRAISER
It’s time for Booksin’s first all day dining fundraiser of the school year! Looking for a tasty refreshment? On Thursday, August 28th, head over to Gong Cha located at 1087 Meridian Avenue #10, San Jose, for some boba tea, coffee, or a light snack, and they will donate 20% of all purchases from the entire day back to Booksin!!
