Math Olympiad Parents

This group is for parents of students participating in the Math Olympiad program. 

The Math Olympiad is a tradition at Booksin and interested students in the 3rd-5th grades are invited to try out for our team of Mathletes to compete in the 2025-2026 season. The Math Olympiad is a team sport involving math problem solving contests using curriculum provided by MOEMS®. For more information on this program, visit: www.moems.org

The goals of the Math Olympiad are: 

●      To stimulate enthusiasm and a love for Mathematics 

●      To introduce important Mathematical concepts 

●      To teach major strategies for problem solving

●      To develop Mathematical flexibility in solving problems 

●      To foster Mathematical creativity and ingenuity

 

Assessment Date and Location

Up to 30 students will be selected, with priority given to fourth and fifth graders. Students must complete an assessment test on the date listed below and will be notified if they have made the team.

Weekly Meetings

Each week our “mathletes” will explore a math topic and practice for the monthly contests. These meetings will be held Wednesday mornings from 7:10-8:00 am in Room 25. The first meeting will be Wednesday, September 17, 2026.


Monthly Competitions

The 5 monthly competitions are the highlight of the program. These contests will be held on Tuesdays from 2:20-2:50 pm in room 24; dates are as follows:  Nov. 19, Dec. 16, Jan. 20, Feb. 10, and Mar. 17.


Attendance is mandatory for all practices and competitions.
We are unable to schedule makeups so please make sure that you are able to attend these dates.
