Event Description

In partnership with the Center for the Treatment of Developmental Trauma Disorders at UConn Health, Urban League of Greater Hartford, and Wholefullyfed, this virtual event will focus on healing and wellness within ourselves, our family, and our community during these unprecedented times.

6:00 PM - 6:30 PM: Safe Space Breakout Session (Those who have registered for the breakout session will not log off after the main talk event. Registrants should remain in the meeting and will be assigned a breakout session.)  


Dr. Julian Ford
Professor of Psychiatry at the UConn School of Medicine and Director of the Center for Trauma Recovery and Juvenile Justice and the Center for the Treatment of Developmental Trauma Disorders. 

Dr. Debra Forrest
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the UConn School of Medicine. As a board-certified Psychiatrist, Dr. Forrest holds several roles, including clinical and teaching work in Emergency Psychiatry, developing and directing UConn's Urgent Care Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic, serving as Medical Director at Hartford Behavioral Health, Assistant Program Director of Psychiatry Residency Training, and so much more.

Dr. Rocio Chang
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Uconn School of Medicine.  She has published in the area of childhood and adult trauma and presented at a wide variety of regional and national scientific meetings.   A Child Psychologist, Dr. Rocio has extensive clinical experience with children, adolescents, and families with emotional dysregulation and substance abuse issues, and has spent most of her career implementing culturally appropriate services to marginalized communities. She is sought after to provide specific training on the assessment and treatment of complex trauma, in particular for LatinX communities and organizations. 

Dr. Damion Grasso
Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UConn School of Medicine with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Grasso's research broadly focuses on understanding biobehavioral mechanisms involved in trauma- and stress-related disorders in children and effective strategies for assessing and treating trauma-related impairment. He co-leads the UConn Health Family Adversity and Resilience Research (FARR) Program and provides evidence-based psychotherapy interventions for treating trauma-related disorders in the UConn Health Psychological Trauma Clinic

David Hopkins
8th President and Chief Executive Officer of the Urban League of Greater Hartford, the 66th affiliate of the National Urban League, whose mission is to reduce economic and health disparities in the Greater Hartford communities through programs, services, and educational opportunities. 

Sandy Chang
Founder of Wholefullyfed and a mindfulness trainer, is passionate about wellness and empowering others to advocate for their own health.
