Prince William Forest Park

Hi Breakthrough Families- Here is the long awaited sign up to join us for the school community camping trip the weekend of June 15.  The outing will take place at Prince William Forest Park, which is about one hour from Washington.  We have reserved three group campsites. We plan to arrive on Saturday, June 15, spend the night in the park, and head out the following day.  The park has hiking trails and a creek that are great for young children.  Weather permitting, Sunday will likely include a hike to a small river with a swimming hole after leaving the campsites.

No prior camping experience is needed!  We are happy to coordinate the sharing of gear such as tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, etc., for those of you who are interested but need to borrow gear, as well as ride sharing.  This worked very well last year!  Please sign up below either as an experienced camper (you have all or most of the camping stuff you need and could maybe even share some extra supplies) or as a new camper (you might have camped before but would like to borrow some or all equipment and/or need some help setting up).

There is no required fee to participate, but we will be requesting an optional $10 donation per family to help cover the cost of site rental.  Families who are able to contribute more in order to help make this an event that is open to all regardless of cost are invited to give more.

Jessica Salsbury, Tracee Short, and Rebecca Helgerson are co-organizing the trip. Please feel free to reach out to any of them with questions.  They will reach out to those who sign up in the next few weeks to organize equipment sharing and ride sharing.
