Petworth Campus - Breakthrough Montessori
1 day before
Please join us at the Petworth Campus for a report back from parent Rebecca Helgerson and guide Ebony Marshman about their experience at the Montessori for Social Justice (MSJ) conference earlier this year.  MSJ's mission is to "support the creation of sustainable learning environments that dismantle systems of oppression, amplify voices of the Global Majority, and cultivate partnerships to liberate the human potential."  This aligns with Breakthrough's dedication to equity and inclusion, which you can read more about here.
Rebecca and Ebony are excited to share what they learned at the conference and are bringing back to the Breakthrough community.  Topics include trauma and development, gender diversity through Montessori practice, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and building liberatory schools.
