Today the last class got to go on the SHA sponsored field trip  A special shout-out to all who chaperoned the past 3 weeks to The Tales of Beatrix Puppet Show.  We definitely couldn’t have pulled it off without your help.  We love all the pictures that you put on the facebook page.  Please keep them coming!

For those who were able to make our last SHA Community Meeting, thank you! Your continued support is appreciated.  For those who could only make it in spirit, no worries.  We appreciate you, too.  As promised, the minutes are attached.  Take a gander...

COMMITTEE CORNER

Breakthrough Staff-Parent Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Reading Group
February 15 / 5 - 6pm / Breakthrough Family Room

SHA and Breakthrough is hosting a monthly reading group to discuss articles focused on diversity, equity and inclusion. This is an opportunity to have open conversations regarding these topics and create an environment in which everyone feels like they belong.  The first article discussed will be Bias Isn’t Just A Police Problem, It’s A Preschool Problem.  Please RSVP on Konstella and you will also find the questions that will be posed for discussion.

Valentine's Bake Sale & Card Making!
February 13 / Breakthrough Family Room / 3:30p-6:00p

Tuesday is the SHA Valentine's card making session and bake sale.  There will be an assortment of craft materials for your child to make Valentine's cards for friends and family members, and a bake sale for you to pick up a special treat to share.
- Love to bake? Sign up on the Konstella baked good list to donate something to the sale.
- Want to help sell the baked good?  We need 1 more person. Sign up on the Konstella volunteer list.

Please drop off Baked Goods for the sale on Tuesday 2/13 from 8a-3p in the Family Room.  

Proceeds from the sale go to the Breakthrough SHA. 

FEBRUARY CULTURAL EXPERIENCE THEME:
African/Black History Monthly
 
The February Monthly Theme focuses on Black Culture and History! This includes African, African American, and Caribbean cultures.  The staff point persons for this month is Mrs. Mailaika  and Mrs. Didi. There will be books, presentation of cultural items, a potluck, and more!
 
The potluck will be on Friday, February 23rd-6:30-8:30 pm at Breakthrough.Please save the date and look out for more details on how to get involved in SHA’s Monday Memo!
 

FROM OUR SCHOOL:
Family Involvement in Recruitment and Outreach

BMPCS staff member Emily Hedin has asked for family support in in recruitment and outreach through the upcoming lottery season.  There are a number of planned events through the city on a variety of dates.  If you would like to join in as a parent representative, please sign up on Konstella. 

Additionally, if you would like to host a family information center at your home and/or offer suggestions as to where to post flyers in locations to promote our Montessori school, please reach out to Emily.
