Week of 8/22 Updates
Sun, Aug 21 6:14pm
Greetings Briar Vista Family and Friends,

MAP Testing

Our teachers will start MAP Assessments for Grades 1-5 Monday-Friday. MAP assessment data is used to guide instruction and tailor individualized focus for your child. Make sure your child(ren) have a good night's sleep and nutritious food to keep their minds sharp.

Chrome Books

We are going to begin distributing Chrome Books soon. Please make sure you have completed the User Agreement Form (https:// dekalb.incidentiq.com/policy/b23a1fa1-4949-4c30-abd5-cb22bb38e5ff/lookup).

Eagle Call of the Day

This week we had two Eagle Calls of the Day which recognize student for going above and beyond academically through our Motto: Together We SOAR!!!

This is a great way to receive a positive call from Principal Neill sharing all the wonderful accomplishments your child has demonstrated at Briar Vista.  She says, "I truly look forward to celebrating children and parents every day."

Car Riders:

Our carpool continues to improve! Thank you so much for your help with this!

Please remember during morning drop off (at 7:05am) to have your child unbuckled and ready to exit your car as your turn the corner approaching the front stairs. If your child is not ready to be dismissed, please park and enjoy a great walk to the front door. It is important not to hold other parents up in the carpool lane. Do not pass cars or parents in the carpool lane and be mindful of parent’s walking their children to the front of campus. Please drive slowly during carpool when entering and exiting our driveway.

Carpool in the morning stops at 7:40am and students are considered tardy at 7:46am; instruction begins at 7:45am.

Afternoon PICK UP starts at 2:15 and ends at 2:40 pm. At 2:41pm, your child will have to report to Aftercare and there will be a fee for each occasion. Please DO NOT get out of your car. If you need to buckle your child in, please pull forward towards the parking spaces and do so. Getting out of your car impedes the flow of traffic and delays the dismissal process. Also, if at all possible, please allow your child to get in the car on the side closest to the curb.

Please consider volunteering for a morning carpool assistant. Adult Eagles can sign up here https://tinyurl.com/AdultEaglesMorningDropoff
This is a great way to get in some volunteer hours and be a great example to our scholars!

Free Lunch has been Discontinued

Meals at no cost are no longer in effect for school year 2022-2023. Students who do not qualify for free and reduced meal benefits will be required to pay for breakfast and lunch meals this year. Parents are encouraged to complete a Free & Reduced Meal application (SchoolCafe.com).

Students who attend a school that participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) are eligible for breakfast and lunch at no charge. Parents do not need to complete an application to qualify for meals at CEP schools.

Students in a paying status for meals will be allowed to charge meals through Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Parents will be responsible for the payment of the meals charged. Please share the meal prices as you deem appropriate with all stakeholders: SY 22-23 Meal Prices. Students should have received a "Balance Reminder" notice from the cafeteria if they have a lunch balance. Please be sure to take care of this as soon as you are able.

For additional information regarding the Free & Reduced application process, please contact Briar Vista.
