A Message from Principle Neill:

Greetings BVE Family and Friends,

Happy October!!! Now is the time to enjoy the second Spring of the year with all the leaves changing and the cooler temperatures. As you can tell, Fall is my FAVORITE time of the year!! With the cooler temperatures, please help your child be responsible for their personal belongings such as jackets, coats, scarves, hats, and gloves. We have many children who are leaving their items on the playground. Please label EVERYTHING.

Now that MAP Assessments have taken place, our teachers will be providing instruction based on the individual child's performances on the assessment and in the classroom. You will have an opportunity to conference with your child's teacher regarding how they are performing in the class and you will be provided with strategies that you can use with them at home during our Parent/Teacher Conferences. We are happy to share that you can choose to have your meeting with teachers either virtually or in person. Conferences will be held from October 11-18,
2022. Please take time to learn more about how to best support your child through the teacher by staying in touch with them. You are the key to helping Briar Vista continue to improve through collaboration with our teachers and students. We truly want to SOAR in Academics, Community and Excellence!!

October is going to be a very busy month! Please see the calendar below. We would love to have you participate and be involved in our school events. Some events include our PTO fundraiser, "Penny Wars, " International Night, PTO Spirit Night, and Red Ribbon Week. We are also still looking for volunteers for Adult Carpool. Use this link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4FAFA72FA3FAC25-adult

If you would like to volunteer, please contact your child's teacher or me to help us better serve our students and staff members. Have a wonderful weekend!

Together We SOAR!!!

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT NO STUDENT BE DROPPED OFF BEFORE 7:10 AM.
There is no one to supervise them and they cannot be left alone.
At 7:45 am students are considered tardy and
you must come in to sign them in. The QR code is no longer being used and has been disabled. Students must be picked up by 2:45 pm. If you arrive after 2:45 pm, you must come in and sign them out.
Remember too many tardies can cause you to incur the after-school drop-in fees or a call from the social worker. Students may not be picked up for early dismissal after 1:30 pm.
This Is a non-negotiable so please plan accordingly and communicate with your student's teacher about early dismissals.

PENNY WARS UPDATE

Well, folks, since there was a mishap and we lost the first part of the week for Penny Wars, it's been extended to WEDNESDAY of next week! That means you have until October 5th to bring in points for your team OR sabotage the other halls.
On Wednesday, September 28th, and Thursday, September 29th our MIDDLE HALL was clearly in the lead. But, Friday, September 30th, thanks to some strategic sneak attacks and some sabotaging of the other halls, the LOWER HALL came in strong! Don't forget, at the end of Penny Wars, the team with the most points will win a popcorn party!!

We're a little over 1/2 way to the first big "Darkside" prize of STELLAR RECESS!! Do you think we can make it all the way up to our big prizes for the whole school? Ms. Neill in carbonite (or silly string)? Admin staff wearing the big Eagle costume for the day?

Check out the stats below.

CELEBRATING HISPANIC
HERITAGE MONTH

Iver Principe says, "I was born in Lima, Peru. I came to the United States with my parents and sister when I was 7 years old. I learned English in elementary school, and I was able to see the impact that teachers have on children firsthand. I'm extremely proud to be Peruvian! Some of the things that we are most known for is our world-renowned cuisine and for being recognized as having the most dedicated soccer fan base in the 2018 World Cup. Since moving here from Peru, I've been back to visit several times and plan on going back this year to go up Macchu Picchu for the 2nd time. My hobbies include competitive running, making music, and spending time with my family and dogs."

Volunteers are always welcome!
