Future of the Brookvale PTA?
Fri, Apr 30 7:44am

The future of the Brookvale PTA is very uncertain.

Why?
Three positions must be filled for the PTA to continue: President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Fortunately, at our March meeting we confirmed volunteers for Treasurer and Secretary. Unfortunately, as of our final meeting in April, we still did not have a volunteer for the President position.

What will happen next?
We have scheduled two additional PTA meetings. Our deadline for finding a President is May 11. If the position remains unfilled, we will begin the process required to dissolve the Brookvale PTA. The final meeting to complete this process is June 1.

  • Tuesday, May 11, 2021 - deadline for filling the President position
  • Tuesday, June 1, 2021 - Brookvale PTA will be dissolved

What will the Brookvale Community lose?

  • Assemblies - STEM Museum, Kyle's Draw-Along, From Earth to Mars, and many more
  • Cultural Celebrations - Diwalli and Lunar New Year
  • Mascot Appearances - on first day of school, at the Bronco Gallop
  • Movie Nights
  • PTA Choir
  • Reflections Art Contest
  • Science Sunday
  • Spirit Wear Sales
  • Talent Show
  • Walk & Roll, Golden Sneaker, BikeMobile

Why has this happened?
A number of individuals have been committed to the PTA board for many years. Over time, these individuals have rotated around in multiple board positions to keep the PTA running. We are in need of new volunteers to continue PTA events and activities next year or even reimagine the PTA in new ways.

What can be done?
Please consider trying something new, stepping out of your comfort zone, and supporting your child's school. Experience is not necessary--just a willingness to get involved. Joining the PTA board has been a very rewarding experience for our ability to support students, families, and staff at Brookvale Elementary with new and additional opportunities that cannot be easily provided by the school alone due to the limitations in funding and staff. Let's not lose this joy!
