What does school site council (SSC) do?
SSC develops and annually updates the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), a formal plan for the school that satisfies both state and federal program requirements.
Oversight: SSC must monitor the use of school district funds that are intended to benefit specific groups of students (including English learners) and speak up if something needs to change.
Monitoring: SSC monitors the implementation and effectiveness of the plans on an ongoing basis to make the most of what they have and keep the focus on improving outcomes for students.
Who are on the SSC?
Brookvale Elementary School SSC has 10 members: The principal, three teachers who work at the school, one staff member, and five parents. Members are chosen by their peers.
Who can be an SSC parent representative and what is the obligation?
Parents, legal guardians and community members who are/were affiliated with Brookvale Elementary School.
Parent representatives will need to attend five meetings per school year 3:30pm-4:30pm in the school library. The term is two years
