Ability Awareness Week: Celebrating Our Differences (Semana de concientización de habilidad)
Tue, Jan 22 1:10pm - Fri, Jan 25 11:50am
Bubb School
1 day before

Having had to reschedule due to the fires in November, Ability Awareness Week is back from January 22nd to January 25th! This will be a week of fun activities to explore issues of acceptance and inclusion, helping students understand that we are all different and special in some ways.

For K, 2nd, and 3rd grades, volunteers will read a grade-specific children’s book and lead related discussions about abilities and inclusion. All scripts and books are provided. Readers will schedule a lesson date for the week of January 22 with their class teacher.

In 1st, 4th and 5th grades, students will participate in simulation activities, run by volunteers, designed to show them the impact of various disabilities.

The theme will carry into the library with a week of story times centered around living with disabilities and a selection of books to further explore.

We need lots of volunteers to make this week happen!!  If you can help with the simulation activities or if you can lead a reading and discussion, please sign up on Konstella. Also please plan to attend a required training session for all parent volunteers on Friday January 18th from 8-9am in the MUR.

Please help us make this event a success!
