Bugbee Chess Program
Winter 2025 – 10 weeks on Tuesdays after school

Since 2011, all Clubs Chess founder and instructor Alexander Lumelsky organized, instructed and coached over 42 school, library and community children’s chess programs, including over 227 competition titles, 50 state and national placements, and 20 State Champion Teams. Mr. Lumelsky also established the Bugbee Chess Program in 2011 and the Bugbee Yellow Jackets chess team in 2012. The team’s storied success includes five State Champion and one National Title in addition to regional and local success. This instruction-based chess program is offered for student grades K through 5, beginners welcome. The NEW program format includes:


(1) Group instruction on game rules, strategy and etiquette. New lessons for winter session!
(2) Over-the-board one-on-one instruction.
(3) Home assignments for voluntary subject reinforcements.
(4) Online activities and workbook support recommendations. NEW!
(5) In-class paired casual and RATED group play. NEW!
(6) Session-end PRIZE tournament. NEW!

 

Program will meet from 3:20 to 4:20 PM on Tuesdays: Jan 7, 14, 21, 28, Feb 4, 11, 25, Mar 11, 18 and 25. The program is for students grades K through 5, no prior experience necessary. 

 

The program fee is $220 per player and includes all in-class equipment, including chess sets, clocks, scoresheets, etc. and session-end competition prizes.
