Hi Everyone,

We hope you are enjoying your summer so far!

We're reaching out from the Welcoming Committee to invite you to join, or rejoin, us as we welcome new families to Bugbee for the 2025-26 school year.  These are families who have either an oldest or only child entering Kindergarten, or who have recently moved into the Bugbee district.

As a volunteer,  you will be assigned to 5-8 families to partner with throughout the school year (the number of assignments will depend on how many volunteers we get).  As a partner, you are there to answer questions that may come up regarding school-related issues (ex. Where do I drop my child off at Bugbee on a rainy day?  How do I get involved as a parent volunteer?)  For some of these new families who may have recently moved to West Hartford, some of this partnership may also be about guidance for navigating WeHa (Ex. where are the best spots to get a kid-friendly dinner?)

As for what the commitment would look like as a volunteer, you'd be provided with contact info for your assigned families by end of next week, and we'd ask that you make a phone call to welcome each new family, as well as sending a follow-up email, during the week of August 18th.  We will provide a sample script for an initial email and/or phone call.

We will also encourage a follow-up check-in with your new families a few weeks into the school year, to ensure their transition is going smoothly and to provide any answers to additional questions which may arise.
