Dear Sticky Friends,
To say this year has flown by is an understatement. I can't believe we're wrapping up our 2025-2026 school year, and for me personally, I don't think it's quite set in that I'm stepping away from my preschool career. I will always be an early education advocate and hope to continue to touch the lives of young children. Working with families and children brings me joy and "warms my teacher heart" as I often tell my favorite little people.
Although officially my last day as director is next week, bringing the school year to a close feels like a more significant time to begin to write the final pages of this chapter.
Before I became the director at Bunker Hill, I was here as a substitute teacher to help a longtime colleague and friend. I came at a time when we were still outside only, a residual effect from the pandemic. One of my first tasks as a director was how to move back inside and help everyone feel comfortable in doing so. My very first day as director, before the doors even opened, I was greeted by our analyst for our annual visit from licensing (by the way, I started a few weeks earlier than originally planned). My time at Bunker Hill has been quite an adventure from the very beginning!
Walking away from something when you're unhappy is relatively easy. Walking away from something that you love is not easy; but when the time is right you know. I've had the honor to work with amazing teachers, board members, and families. People who have taught me whole heartedly what it means to be dedicated, to do what's right, to support one another, and to transform community into extended family. I also had the unique honor of working, teaching, and learning alongside my daughter. That is an experience few people get to have, and I will always be grateful for the special memories we created together.
When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. Thank you for being a part of this dream. In Girl Scouts, they teach you to leave somewhere a little better than you found it, I hope I did just that in my time at Bunker. I know your next Director is already putting plans in place to do the same, and I have no doubt she will accomplish amazing things. I look forward to hearing about all the wonderful moments and achievements that lie ahead for this magical oasis we call Bunker Hill. It truly is where "sticky friends are quickly made" and kept forever.
Gratefully and with much appreciation,
Teacher Tiffany
