Hello CLIP Families,
We are excited to participate in the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco again. Last year our group won first prize, greater Bay Area School. This parade is one of the largest CNY celebrations outside of Asia. This year is the year of the Dragon which symbolizes goof luck, strength, and health.
All students are welcome to come partake in the parade. No experience is necessary, and you DO NOT need to be in ASEP class to join. The parade is Saturday February 24, 2024. This will be an experience for the kids to participate, spread cultural awareness, and represent CLIP at the same time. CYN Parade registration deadline is Friday Dec 8, 2023 at 8 pm through the Cheddarup link below.
Items to be aware of
- Practices will run every Friday (Nov 17, Dec 1, 8, 15, Jan 12, 19, 26, Feb 2, 9, and 16 from 3:10-4:45 in the GLC & school courtyard.
- Parent assistance is mandatory. We will need volunteers to help with costumes, props, running practices, managing sub teams, and parade day chaperones. Chaperones will help watch kids the day of the performance in SF, but NOT WALK the parade.
- Donation Request: $50/participant for costumes, props, bus transportation, parade meal & other costs. Paying by credit card will incur a 3.5% additional cost. We suggest paying by e-check.
