SAVE THE DATE (1/21/20) - Kids Against Hunger Packing Event
Thu, Dec 19 1:08pm

On Tuesday, January 21st,  Kids Against Hunger will be coming to Chadbourne for a packing event.

Kids Against Hunger is a non profit group run entirely by unpaid volunteers that is focusing on feeding the needy people and empowering the kids, teen, and adults to be part of the solution.

During our school wide packing event, our students will be volunteering a small portion of their time during school hours to pack non-perishable foods. Our kindergartners and 1st graders will decorate the meals bags with caring messages. The 2nd- 6th grade students will fill the bags with nutritious dehydrated ingredients. Each bag, when mixed with water, makes 6 nutritious meals.

The packed meals are sent to the needy people, both locally and around the world. Our goal is to pack 15,000 meals that day!

This is an excellent opportunity to show the kids that giving back to the world can start in our backyard.

To make this a TRULY successful event and to hit our goal we will be in need of 50 volunteers that day. The event will be in the am and the time commitment will be from 745am – 1130am. Please consider taking time off and showing our students that helping others matters. Signups will be sent in January.

In addition to the packing event, a challenge to raise funds will be shared with the students at an assembly in January. Funds received through donations are used to purchase the high-quality ingredients that are a part of Kids Against Hunger's specific food recipe. Students can start now by earning a minimum of $15 by doing some chores to help feed a child for a month!! Each meal costs 25 cents, so every $25 raised will feed 100 children. The class that raises the most will get a special treat! As a school we have a goal to raise $5,000.  More information on this will come in January.
