College Park Elementary

A tradition at College Park is to do volunteer litter pickups around the perimeter of the school on a quarterly basis.
Please mark your calendars for the 2019/2020 school year:
Sunday, 8/18/19 at 4pm
Sunday, 10/27/19 at 4pm
Sunday, 1/12/20 at 3pm

We meet in the staff parking lot off Poplar Ave and work as a group to circle the campus (including Turnbull) in a counter clockwise fashion (Poplar -> Eldorado -> Indian -> Humboldt -> Poplar). If you arrive later, just circle around until you find the group. This usually takes about an hour or maybe an hour and a quarter.
This is a great way to meet fellow College Park families and to build a strong campus community. Kids love zooming around the outside of the campus with their friends picking up litter.
Although our school staff and the district do a terrific job of keeping our campus clean, there is no cleanup support for the area outside of the school gates. Over time, a fair amount of litter accumulates, and we have quarterly volunteer cleanup days to help keep this part of our school grounds clean and as a goodwill gesture to the neighbors of the College Park campus.
All you need to do is show up - we will provide trash bags and disposable gloves. All ages are welcome (although younger children should be supervised by an accompanying adult). We are happy to sign community service forms for those who are volunteering (any Scouts out there needing volunteer hours?).

P.S. This will be our families last academic year at College Park. I'll be looking for a parent or family that would like to take the lead and continue the tradition of the Campus Cleanup in the future. Let me know if you are interested!
