Welcome to this Week’s PTA Weekly Press!

Vol I, No 6. February 18, 2020.

Every Tuesday during the school year, you will find CP PTA related information in the PTA Weekly Press. These are this week’s items:

  1. Workshop Leaders Needed for Art & Science Day.
  2. Help Plan Staff Appreciation Week!
  3. Uniform H.O.P.E Project continues.
  4. Report from Nominating Committee.

  1. Workshop Leaders Needed for Art & Science Day

We need a few more parent volunteers to lead 45-minute workshops on Art & Science day, May 1, 2020! Workshop leaders for all grades are welcome but we especially need parent signups for Kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grades. Please sign up by filling out the A&S Day Workshop Sign Up by Friday, February 21

Please see Workshop Leader Announcement for additional details. Contact Joanne Adamkewicz on Konstella or at with any questions.

  1. Help Plan Staff Appreciation Week!

We are beginning to plan activities for Staff Appreciation Week, May 11-14. Please contact Shauna Lawry ( or on Konstella) if you're available to help. Let's show the entire CP staff how much we care!

  1. Uniform H.O.P.E Project continues.

Our College Park graduate Ethan Hua’s H.O.P.E project (Help Our Planet Earth) went off to a great start during last week’s Kindness Week. We are truly thankful for his dedication and contribution to our community. See his attached Flyer.

          4.  Report from Nominating Committee!

Sometimes “No News is Good News,” but this time, it’s bad news.  No ready, willing and able candidates have been found for some very important PTA positions!  And, our election is next month, March 17, 2020.  Can you imagine:  Next year - not enough PTA officers to sponsor:  Fall Drive; Teacher Appreciation week; no PTA sponsored Science Lab; no PTA sponsored Movie Night; No this, no that, no the other and, yikes, no Panda Parties and no Restaurant Funnnn…raisers!

Everyone (especially kinder parents): quick, contact a PTA Nominating Committee member to SAVE THE YEAR by seeking a position on the College Park PTA Executive Board:

Connie Chang Chinchio

Doug Christini

Victoria Pao

A strong, capable PTA Board is one of the key pillars of College Park’s success and many of the "old guard" are terming out this year or next.

The PTA and FMS both rely upon parent leaders who work with the College Park faculty and staff to strengthen our school and to support our students. Those with an interest in financial accountability and sustainability will find several opportunities.

While all Board positions are considered open by the Nominating Committee, the several positions may be open due to term limits or vacancies:

Executive VP

The PTA Board meets monthly on Wednesday mornings. If you are elected to the Board, you will be provided training by the 17th District PTA. I’ve attached role descriptions and the nomination form.
