  1. College Park Staff and Teacher Appreciation Week: May 11-15, 2020!

Celebrate Staff & Teachers’ TLC and Efforts for our students!  Though we may be apart, we still want to recognize the amazing College Park staff and all that they do. We have the following activities planned:

A.  Students Send Thank You Notes.

During this week, please help your students send a special “Thank You” to their favorite person with a letter or drawing. They can use one of the worksheets attached, something they find online, or they can create their own.  If your fave is a staffer, send your “Thank You” c/o the Principal.  If your fav is the Principal, that’s OK too!

B.  The PTA Fills the Fridge.

In lieu of our traditional Farmer’s Market, the PTA has partnered with Daylight Foods to provide all College Park staff members with groceries and free delivery. With a full fridge of healthy foods, we hope to make their day a little brighter.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Shauna Lawry (

  1. To Petition or Not to petition School District to Retain Principal Chuang another year.

Your PTA Executive Board will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow, May 13, 2020.  An item on the agenda is deliberation of whether to petition the School District to retain current College Park principal Steven Chuang.  The mission of the PTA is to advocate for our students and their families, such as providing hot lunches, promote integrity of facility, advocate for field trips and for sufficiency of teaching tools – financial stuff.   Here, the question is whether petitioning to retain the current principal fits within the mission of the PTA.  Parents are encouraged to contact any officer of the PTA to voice his or her opinion.

Over ten College Park parents spoke individually during last Thursday, May 7, 2020’s regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for the San Mateo-Foster City School District.  The reason the parents spoke was unanimous:  They want the District to retain the current principal Steven Chuang and the reason they want the retention is for the best interest of the students: to facilitate stability and continuity retuning to school after SIP/Distance Learning and to support the influx of new SED students.
