Morning Crossing Guard Committee -
Participate in and/or help recruit for daily Morning Crossing help at the Indian and El Dorado and Indian and Fremont crossings near the school.
Commit as much or as little time as you can spare to help make our streets safer for our students and community during the morning drop-off rush. Pick up stop signs and safety vest at the office before you start the morning. Times needed are daily from approximately 8:00 to 8:20.
History and Background
Several years ago, a College Park student was struck by a motorist as she was crossing El Dorado on the way to school. Partly as a response to that incident, College Park parents banded together for the last three years to serve as crossing guards at two crucial crossings -- Indian and Fremont and Indian and El Dorado.
Traffic in the streets around the school can get really congested and everyone is pressed for time. It would really be helpful to have a crossing guard help guide the traffic and ensure safe passage for students who cross onto campus from these two main corners.
Ideally, we would need 2 crossing guard volunteers per day to man each corner, but we'd be grateful for any time you can spare. Crossing guards should come to the school office a little before 8:00 to pick up safety vests and stop signs. The time commitment would be approximately 20 minutes just before and a little after the school bell rings.
Thank you in advance for all of your help and please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.
