Math Concepts Club
Math Concepts Club (MCC): Tuesday evening gatherings to introduce fun math concepts that have nothing to do with school. For kids who've had enough of working with numbers at school, these high school and university-level concepts are like bringing epic adventure books to kids who have been bored to death memorizing the alphabet. Founded by college professor Mike Williamson and led by professional engineer Ka Wai Tam (both their kids are in Grade 5 GATE), we welcome anyone who is interested in math (don't worry if you're not actually GOOD AT math).
Now entering its third year, our gatherings are Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm at College Park school, Rm 18 (the Science Room). Park at the teachers' parking lot on Poplar Ave and enter via the back door. The first hour is the Math Concepts session. The second hour of the session is informal; the kids usually play thinking games -- people bring Coup, Avalon, Hanabi, or other such games of strategy and deception.
