Linda was highly recommended by award-winning author Kate Messner for her engaging writing workshop presentations.
Linda will teach K-1 students about her picture book Mouse Was Mad, the process of writing the book, do a collaborative drawing exercise to create a character, and help students develop a story about their characters using key traits and story elements.
2nd-3rd graders will get a sneak peak into the book Olive Little Gets Crafty and learn about point of view and how WHO Olive is impacts HOW she understands the world. Students will work with Linda to create two characters and put the characters into a setting/situation and create a story incorporating different points of view.
Linda will focus on the concept of main idea with 4th and 5th graders. She will read a little bit from her book A Crooked Kind of Perfect and discuss plot, setting, situation, character, wants, needs, and motivations, as well as word choice and sensory detail! As a group, we will create a character with a want and why as part of the main idea or theme.
