Our annual CP Science Fair is tentatively now scheduled for Thursday, June 4, from 6 – 8 p.m. We had close to 70 CP students participate last year, and we are very excited to see what amazing discoveries our wonderful students will be presenting this year!
The CP Science Fair is not a competition, just a fun opportunity for students to work on and showcase a science topic that is exciting to them. Students present their projects to their peers and to a panel of science-minded parents. The range of topics our students have shared at previous science fairs has been super cool – including holograms, quicksand, composting, crystals, sound, electricity, eddy currents, photosynthesis, polymers, thin film interference, water bears, DNA, and so much more.
We hope you will encourage your children to participate. It’s a low-key venue for kids to develop a feeling of confidence and pride, and it fosters in them a spirit of scientific inquiry. Students also get to practice important skills – from reading, writing, spelling, and math to logical thinking, presentation, scientific methodology, and public speaking. If you are stuck for a topic, endless resources such as Science Buddies are available online.
Everything you need to know is on the 2020 CP Science Fair Website including:
We need science-minded parent volunteers to talk to our wonderful presenters about their projects. To be a Science Fair Parent Panelist, please sign up here.
Deadline for registration is Friday, March 20.
