GSOYP: Collards Time! Volunteer Needed
When: Tuesday, November 19, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: CP All Purpose Room (aka Cafeteria)
The Garden State on Your Plate team is bringing collards in for a tasting next Tuesday, November 19. The team could use an extra hand to help prep, serve, and clean up. It's a quick job and a great way to see CP in action. Email Rona Deutsch to volunteer: email@example.com.
The CP Library Wants Your Story
A good book is even better when read by someone with first-hand knowledge of the topic. Every year, the school library welcomes parents and other community members to share their experiences--of far-off places, cultural heritage or holidays, trades, talents, and more--by reading a book to or leading an informal discussion with CP students. For more information, click here or email CP Librarian Bevan Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Annual Thanksgiving Pie Sale
Time to place that pie order. Will it be pumpkin? Pecan? Vegan sweet potato? Or one of the many other delicious pies 5th graders are selling from Randazzo's Pastry Shop? Place your order by Tuesday, November 19. Pick it up from the CP lobby either Tuesday, November 26, or Wednesday, November 27.
And if you don't eat pie, you can sweeten another's Thanksgiving Day by ordering a pie to be donated to Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). A portion of all proceeds support 5th grade activities, including the Class of 2020's gift to CP and their community service project.
CP Spirit Gear For Sale Online
Has your student lost or trashed their CP school shirt? No worries. They're now for sale on Konstella, along with sweatshirts, pajama pants, water bottles, and more. Load up on Spirit Gear here.
You Shop, Amazon Gives
Every time you shop on Amazon, the AmazonSmile Foundation will contribute 0.5 percent of eligible purchases to the CP PTO. To get started, go to smile.amazon.com and select "Community Park School Parent Teacher Organization, Inc." as your designated charity. It's an easy and effortless way to give with every purchase.
Winter Coat & Clothing Drive--Volunteers Needed
We still need help sorting the bounty on Friday, November 22, from 3-5 p.m. Sign up here.
Las Manos Amigas*: Fall Clean Up
Now is the time that winter suddenly arrives and everyone scrambles to finish their fall clean up. Some neighbors may be less able to do this because they've been ill, have a new baby, or are just getting on in years. Have your student look around your neighborhood to see who might need help raking their leaves. Then have them rake, jump in the pile, repeat. And finish with a cup of hot cider.
*Las Manos Amigas is a weekly community-oriented activity suggested by CP PTO's Community Outreach duo, Sarah Torian and Dena Hoffman.
Welcome New Board of Ed Members
Last Tuesday, Princeton voters elected three women to the Board of Education: Debbie Bronfeld, Susan Kanter, and Dafna Kendal. Parents and caregivers will have an opportunity to chat with board members at "Bagels with the Board" at CP on January 3, the First Friday of 2020.
Trinity Turkey Trot
Make room for all those Thanksgiving pies by running (or walking) the annual Trinity Turkey Trot 5k. All ages are welcome. Last year's race sold out, so register now.
PHS Choir Holiday Flower Sale
P.S. - We Hear You
We heard that Konstella announcements were clogging your inbox and getting you down. So in an effort to declutter your electronic life but still keep you informed about everything happening at CP, the PTO will be sending you this weekly newsletter. You will hear from us every Tuesday morning--and that's pretty much it. All of the usual announcements, sign ups, and sales, will still be available anytime on Konstella. We just won't notify you every single time a post drops. The exceptions will be calendar reminders and an occasional urgent communication, such as an imminent event change or cancellation.
If you have feedback or suggestions regarding the newsletter, please message Nicole Pezold Hancock on Konstella or email email@example.com.
For general thoughts regarding PTO activities or how parents can further help support CP, please contact Co-Presidents Lynda Dodd, Tara Oakman, and Manishi Prasad via Konstella or at firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, and firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for reading!
