CP Spirit Masks are Here!

The CP PTO is providing free "spirit masks" for all students and staff next week. Homeroom teachers will be in touch regarding mask distribution for their class cohorts. Additional CP masks in youth and adult sizes will be available for purchase soon.

Showing Some Love for Teachers

To celebrate the return of all grades to hybrid learning, the PTO provided a grab-and-go breakfast for CP staff last Friday. It was a small way to show gratitude for all that they are doing to continue teaching our students during the pandemic.

411 on After School Clubs, Halloween, & School Pics

There will be clubs! There will be Halloween celebrations! There will be school pictures! They will all look different than in past years but will still bring much needed opportunities for our students. (A BIG thank you to parents Patty Kim Joseffer and Kim Byko, as well as CP staff, for making this happen.)

After School Clubs - Clubs start November 9, and will all be virtual for this season. Club offerings will be announced soon--including Recycled Art, Dungeons & Dragons, and virtual Dance Party to name a few. More details on registration to come soon via Konstella. Contact clubs@cppto.org if you have an idea for a club or would like to lead one. Remember: Club instructors can sign up their student in any club for free!

Virtual Halloween Celebrations - Each class will celebrate Halloween virtually on Wednesday, October 28. Look out for details from your student's teacher.

Picture Day(s) - Students will have individual school pictures taken outdoors on Tuesday, November 10 (Cohort A) and Thursday, November 12 (Cohort B). Cohort C's schedule is still being determined. In an effort to limit exposure, there will be no class pictures this year or make up days. Stay tuned for further details via Konstella.

Webinar: Parenting During the Pandemic
When: Thursday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Zoom (click here for details)

Princeton child psychologist Dr. Eileen Kennedy Moore will be speaking on strategies for parenting during the pandemic. The event is the second in a series of social emotional learning webinars jointly sponsored by PPS's elementary school PTOs.

Student Daily Screening Forms are Due Remote Days Too

That's right. All students (both remote and in-person) must complete the Daily Screening Form Monday through Friday for each student every day before 7:30 AM. Please do the screening on the day-of, not the night before, if you want it to count. This goes for all remote students too. Find the form on the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Our Bottom Line: What We've Raised So Far
Thank you to everyone who has donated to our direct donations campaign, or took part in our fall flowers sale and Nomad Pizza Night. So far we've raised nearly 20% of this year's fundraising goal of $40,000--or about $100 per student enrolled at CP:

Direct Donations (via Konstella + Zelle) $6,944.59
Fall Flower Sale $578.09
Nomad Pizza Night $413.10
Amazon Smile $27.75
TOTAL RAISED FOR 2020-21 $7,963.53

Please help us to reach our goal so that we can continue to offer enrichment programs this year!

How to Give:

  • Zelle: Send Zelle payment to treasurer@cppto.org
(Zelle is a free, secure service available via all banks and credit unions, including PNC, Bank of America, TD, and Wells Fargo.)
  • Credit Card: Via Konstella Donations page. (Grandparents, neighbors, and others can also donate via this public link.)
  • Check: Payable to "CP PTO" mailed or dropped off to Community Park School, Attn: CP PTO, 372 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ, 08542.

NOTE: Donations to the CP PTO are tax deductible. If your employer matches charitable donations, please send your Matching Funds Application to treasurer@cppto.org.

Volunteer Needed: Special Ed PTO Liaison
The CP PTO is looking for a new liaison between our school and the district-wide Special Education PTO. The liaison is a member of the CP PTO Board and is responsible for keeping our school up-to-date on SpEd activities and issues, and vice versa. The liaison has the opportunity to meet and work with leaders and parents from across the district, and learn about how SpEd works at all levels of learning. For more info, contact outgoing SpEd Liaison Lynda Dodd at lyndagdodd@aol.com.

Give to CP Without Spending an Extra Cent
You can raise money through your regular purchases from Amazon.com, the McCaffrey's Food Market at the Princeton Shopping Center, and Box Top items from any store. It's easy and costs you nothing extra!

Amazon Smile
Every time you shop on Amazon, the AmazonSmile Foundation will contribute 0.5 percent of eligible purchases to the CP PTO. Click here to get started.

You can also use AmazonSmile on your mobile app: Open the app and find "Settings" in the main menu (☰). Tap on "AmazonSmile" and follow the on-screen instructions to turn on AmazonSmile on your phone.

McCaffrey's Receipts
Remember to save your receipts when you shop at McCaffrey's Food Market in the Princeton Shopping Center. CP receives 0.95% from each receipt, which adds up quickly. Send them in with your hybrid-learning student or drop them off the next time you pick up materials at CP.

Box Tops

Redeeming Box Tops clips is easier than ever. No clipping! Just a quick scan and done. Here's how:

  • Download the Box Tops app to your phone.
  • Shop as you normally do.
  • Scan your store receipts to find participating products.
  • The app will automatically credit CP’s Box Tops earnings.

Children’s Winter Coat & Clothing Drive
Collection: Early November
Tentative Distribution Event: November 14

Every fall, CP collects tons of warm clothing and gear and distributes it to those most in need in Princeton. This effort is trickier this year but the CP PTO is working with community partners to hold a smaller, more targeted drive. To protect our community’s health and safety, this year’s clothing drive will focus only on children’s winter clothing.
Please begin collecting your children’s gently used winter coats, snow pants, boots, and cold weather gear, and stay tuned for more information about when and where to drop them off at CP and our plans for the distribution event.

Las Manos Amigas*: In Giving, We Receive
It's not yet Halloween, but Princeton is already planning how to spread the cheer with their annual Holiday Gift Drive.

Click here to request a gift for your student OR sign up to give a gift to a child in need. And, if you're giving a gift, let your student help you shop and experience how giving may benefit both the giver and receiver.

Deadline for requesting a gift is Friday, November 13. Deadline for signing up to donate a gift is Friday, November 27.

*Las Manos Amigas is a weekly community-oriented activity that parents may do with their student.

Special Education PTO "Coffee Talk"
When: October 31, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Where: Zoom (click here for details)

Join parents from across the district for an informal conversation about topics of interest to families with students receiving special education services in Princeton. This will not be a formal presentation, but rather a parent-led group conversation. It's a great chance to meet other parents, ask questions, and share knowledge. All are welcome to join--for a few minutes, or the whole session! Find more SpEd PTO updates and subscribe to the monthly newsletter here.

Princeton is Voting!
Don't forget to return your ballot for the November General Election. For more information about what's on the ballot, visit www.Vote411.org/ballot.

Princeton residents may return their ballots via mail or place in the secure drop box at the Municipal Building (400 Witherspoon Street). Voters can also deliver it to their polling place on Election Day, November 3.
