Your PTO at Work: Final Friday Coffee, Cultural Fair, & Author Visit

We had a HUGE turnout to meet Superintendent Mike LaSusa (center, holding a CP tote bag) on Friday, May 30 for our Final Friday Coffee of the year! (Unfortunately, we only got a picture with the few parents and staff who stuck around until 9:15 a.m.) Thank you to everyone who came out to welcome Dr. LaSusa--you made it clear that CP is a great place to be!

CP's first Cultural Fair was a big success! Thank you to the kids and families who shared food, games, crafts, and information about different countries and cultures.

The PTO sponsored a visit with Margery Cuyler, author of over 50 children's books! She spoke about her childhood in Princeton and read from her best-loved titles.

Green Team News

Community Park is bringing back metal flatware! Thanks to a grant from Sustainable Jersey for Schools and the NJ Education Association, CP is ditching plastic forks, spoons and knives in the cafeteria. The grant funded new metal flatware and two magnetic flatware retrievers for the garbage cans. If you want to get involved in CP's sustainability efforts, please join the Green Team on Konstella.

End-of-Year Staff Gifts

As always, the CP PTO is collecting donations for end-of-year gifts for CP's wonderful staff, including security and front office workers, our specials teachers (art, music, gym, STEAM, library), lunch aides, cafeteria staff, janitors, guidance counselor, therapists, etc.

If you would like to participate, you can contribute to CP staff gifts in the following ways:

  • Zelle: Send Zelle payment to treasurer@cppto.org (Note: "CP Staff Gift").

  • Venmo: Send Venmo payment to @CPPTO (Note: "CP Staff Gift").

  • Check: Payable to "CP PTO" mailed or dropped off to Community Park School, Attn: CP PTO, 372 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ, 08542. (Note: "CP Staff Gift")

(Your room parents will have reached out separately about gifts for your child's classroom teachers.)

Note that there are many ways to recognize the CP staff that don't involve a monetary gift! Please encourage your child to make a drawing or write a thank-you note for a staff member who made a difference this year--we hear time and again that those gestures mean the world to our teachers and staff!

Please Volunteer for Next Year!

We're still searching for:

-One or two PTO co-presidents
-A fundraising chair (or chairs)
-A V.P. of communications (or co-V.P.s!)

Please consider sharing your time and talents by filling these critical roles! We won't be able to maintain the level of enrichment programming, financial support, and communication that our children, families, and teachers have come to expect from the PTO without your help!

Click here to read more about the positions or email cppto@cppto.org for more information!
