Recording of March 21, 2023 BOE Long-Term Planning Meeting

Dear CP Families,

A recording of last night's Board of Education meeting, which touched on short- and long-term plans and ideas to address growing enrollment in the district elementary schools, is now available here

  • Co-Chairs of the Board of Education's Long Term Planning Committee presented on projected enrollment increases over the next five years, fiscally prudent facilities planning, and models for utilizing existing spaces (~1:27:45 into the recording) 
  • Dr. Kimberly Tew, assistant superintendent for curriculum & instruction, presented the District's plan for rebalancing the elementary schools' enrollment next year, as well as suggestions for restructuring the elementary schools to address growing enrollment in subsequent years (~2:09:15)
  • Pricilla Russel, district supervisor of world languages, ESL/bilingual and dual language immersion programs, spoke about the history of the DLI and addressed questions about the plan to add back Traditional classrooms to CP (~2:42:35)
  • CP Principal Dineen Gruchaz discussed the DLI goals, as well as plans to welcome children who will be transferring from JP to CP (~2:47:15)
  • After Spring Break, the District will provide more information about the plans for the elementary schools, with an emphasis on outreach to impacted families (~3:00:00)
  • Dr. Tew answered the question about whether the plans PPS put forward are set in stone, or if the District might change course after speaking with the community (~3:57:32)
