The PTO is looking for more a few more room parents (and other volunteers)!

What does a room parent do?

• Room parents help plan class parties, coordinate class gifts for teachers, and serve as the main points of communication  between teachers and classroom families. (A full job description is attached.)

How much time does it take?

• The time commitment varies by season and grade, but room parents usually spend less than one to three hours per month (the bulk of time is spent emailing other parents, creating sign-up sheets for party supplies/special classroom supplies, and ordering/buying supplies and gifts on behalf of the grade using funds sent through Venmo, etc. 2-3 times per year. Sometimes room parents are asked to help with a special project, like organizing a group item for the auction.).

How do I sign up?

• Please sign up below under your child's homeroom section (for the DLI, it's the teacher they start with in the morning on the first day of school. Your child's homeroom teacher is listed first in the Konstella directory, and can also be found on PowerSchool).

What should I do if the room parent positions have already been filled?

• Reach out to your grade rep (visible under committees in Konstella) or get involved with the PTO in other ways! Click here to check out our committees and add your name to any volunteer roster that is of interest. Some committees--especially our fundraising committees--have few volunteers and we could really use your help! 

Are there other leadership positions available?

• The Preschool also needs a Grade Rep to represent all PreK families on the PTO Board. The Grade Rep attends PTO board meetings (usually on Zoom, in the evenings) and communicates with the grade-level room parents on behalf of the Board. • The PTO is also looking for a Special Education Liaison to represent CP at the Special Education Parent Advisory Group. The Special Education Liaison duties can be found here. Please sign up in Konstella under Committees.
• We could also use a restaurant fundraiser committee lead! Help organize fundraisers at local eateries or businesses (i.e. when 10% proceeds from dinner/ice cream/haricuts at a local business on a certain day go to CP...). Sign up in Konstella under Committees.
