A very belated but heartfelt thank you to the CP family for all of your donations to the Winter Coat and Clothing Drive earlier this month!
Those of you who walked through the CP lobby on the Friday before distribution event know how overflowing the piles of donated items were. This being my first year managing the event, I had no idea how we were going to get everything organized in time for the event the next morning but, AGAIN, our CP family came through! Nearly 30 volunteers showed up that afternoon and before I knew it, everything was organized and ready. Many of the volunteers were families in need who were able to take some clothing items with them afterwards in appreciation for their service.
When we opened the doors at 7:30 am the following morning, dozens of people were lined up and waiting. We had nearly 40 people come through to find snow pants, winter jackets, boots, pants, sweaters, dresses and so much more.
Afterwards, we carried about 11 industrial size trash bags full of clothing to Homefront to be used in their Free Store where people can "shop" for items they need.
Check out the attached photo if you want to get a small sense of the overwhelming amount of clothing that was displayed for area families in need to look through and how much was left over that we were able to donate to Homefront.
The generosity of families at CP -- and all of the Princeton Public Schools -- was heartwarming and inspiring. I am so thankful to be a part of this community!
