Hispanic Heritage Read In Day
Fri, Oct 12 8:00am-10:00am
Cornelius Elementary

This year we are going to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through literature. During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) we recognize the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States and celebrate their heritage and culture.

Reading is the foundation to success in every area of life. There cannot be too much encouragement given to motivate our youth to engage in, and with great hope, become life-long readers.

We invite you to take part in this event by reading a book by a Hispanic author or about the Hispanic Culture to a class on Friday, October 12, 2018. As many classes as possible will be involved so we welcome all parents cleared through VIPs to volunteer.

Volunteers are asked to arrive between 7:45 and 8:00. There will be refreshments, a sign-in sheet and an array of books from which to choose for the grade level assigned/requested. Beginning at 8:30 am, guests will take a group photo and then be escorted to a classroom. Volunteers should expect to spend no more than 45-55 minutes in their assigned classroom. [More time is at the discretion of the teacher.]

If there is a particular grade level [or bilingual class] you would prefer, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We look forward to your presence and participation to make this an impactful, effective and exciting day!
