The letter below is from the campaign chair for Yes on Measures T & U , regarding the proposed parcel tax measures T & U.
Federal laws prohibit non-profits (like the PTC) from endorsing political candidates, but we may endorse local measures like this. The PTC made a formal vote in 2019 in support of Measures T & U because we believe these funds are vital to providing quality education for our children.
We are forwarding this letter as background information for you to consider in the upcoming election.
MEASURE T & U will be appearing on the March 3, 2020 ballot. This is a critical ballot measure that provides 8% of the District's fiscal resources. These two measures fund:
- School Counseling
- Career Technical Education
- Reduced Class Sizes in Elementary
- Life Lab programs
- After School Intervention and Support Programs in Middle School
- Secondary Athletic Programs that keep kids safe and engaged in school
In order to be successful on election day - we need your help! As California is 41st in the nation in per pupil funding, the local investment that the community has made in our schools is tremendously important.

The school experience for our students would be very different without these resources. The District is working to renew these measures to secure critical programs for our students. We need your help to pass Measures T & U.
Together, we can ensure a quality educational experience for students in Santa Cruz City Schools! Thank you for your support. Please do not hesitate to contact us with additional questions you may have.
