Our school will host a costume parade on Thursday, October 31st. Students will weave through the school and end in front of the PAC.
- The primary grade parade will be from 8:10 - 8:30 AM.
- Photo opportunity for primary students will be at 8:30 AM in front of the PAC
- The upper grade parade will take place from 8:30 - 8:50 AM.
- Photo opportunity for upper students will be at 8:50 AM.
All Kindergarten through 6th grade students may participate in our Annual Costume Parade here at Del Mar Hills. Parents are invited to attend the parade starting at 8:10 AM. Remember to bring your camera!
We ask for your help in the selection of appropriate costumes and for wise parental judgment in what you allow your child to wear to school on this day. Remember, all K-6 students will view the costumes, so they should be appropriate for all students in this age range (5–11 years old). Please encourage your child to select a costume reflecting a positive emphasis, such as a storybook character or a humorous or playful depiction of everyday life. Students may not bring toy knives, guns or any weapons, and may not use blood nor wear scary masks. In addition, please be cognizant of the diversity within our school community and refrain from selecting a costume that could be offensive to some members of our diverse population.
Costumes and make-up need to be put on at home before you arrive to school. If your child cannot wear their costume over their school clothes, please make sure he/she brings a change of clothes in a bag. All SurfRiders will need to change into their school clothes after the parade. Students may spray their hair a different color and put make-up on their face, but spray cans, gel, and make-up containers are not permitted at school.

Principal Sleet’s Message
Our campus has been filled with discussions and displays about healthy choices during our Red Ribbon Week. Students have arrived to school wearing red, pajamas, sports jerseys, and our new college T-shirts. We enjoyed red apples and made kindness chains. The assembly with the California Highway Patrol on Tuesday was exciting and informative for our students. Hopefully your SurfRider has come home with many stories this week.
The Halloween Hoedown was filled with joyous smiles and laughter! It is such a pleasure to see our community join together to celebrate fall and Halloween. Our students certainly love wearing their costumes to school! During the evening, our students engaged in many crafts and games. Families were able to preview the Teacher Features and amazing art displays that will be auctioned off at the HillsFest on November 2nd. Thank you to our amazing PTA for organizing and sponsoring these amazing events for our families and community.
The Del Mar Hills Staff is looking forward to the upcoming week. The Halloween Parade is sure to be an exciting event for our SurfRiders.
Parent - Teacher Conference Week is November 18 - 22. Please be sure to confirm your parent-teacher conference day and time with your child’s teacher. This is a valuable time to sit down to have a focused conversation about your child’s progress and goals. During the week of November 18 - 22, we will be on minimum day schedule.
See you on campus.
