New! Souper Bowl Results
The Duffy Community is amazing!!! Duffy Dragons brought in over 600 pounds of non-perishable food and paper goods for the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee’s Souper Bowl Food Drive!!! Dragons are favoring Bengals to win by far, but Rams have wonderful dedicated fans as well. We are so pleased that these will go to support regional organizations with Duffy ties, Connecticut Foodshare and House of Bread (check out the picture of Duffy alum, Tom Porell, Operations Manager at HoB!). These donations will not only be distributed to families to bring to their own homes, but will also be prepared by volunteers to give community members a hot meal while they explore support services, and ensure that other school aged children reduce their food insecurity through a partnership that HoB has with Hartford Public Schools. Click here for all photos.
If you would like to continue the discussion around food insecurity with your family, we welcome you to explore our resources together. If you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity, there are many resources for support, including through the Town of West Hartford. Thank you all for being a wonderfully giving and caring community!
February is Black History Month
Duffy EDI is pleased to share these resources for you and your family to celebrate and learn together! Whether you want to help or want to learn or both, don't hesitate to reach out to one of our co-chairs, Tracy Wu Fastenberg, Thao Hau or join the Committee via Konstella.
New! Thank you from Nurse Evjen
Please see the below note from our Duffy nurse. Thank you to everyone for showing her how appreciated she is!
I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love and appreciation you not only showed me this week, but over the past 10+ years. I am overwhelmed by all of the hearts I received and absolutely loved looking at and reading them. These past couple years have been difficult not just for me but for everyone. Things like this make it all worth it!
In contrast, it also makes it difficult to say goodbye. It's with a heavy heart that I tell you that I have accepted the position as the Cardiology Clinical Research Supervisor at St. Francis Hospital and my last day at Duffy will be February 16th. I will miss working with all of the children at Duffy, in addition to the connections I've made with many students and families. I will forever be grateful to have worked with the Duffy community over the past decade and look back on it fondly. I know the experience and knowledge I've gained will assist me in all that I do.
Thank you again for all of the love and support! I greatly appreciate it!
Appreciatively,
Megan
B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was a hit-O!
Over 50 PTO-sponsored prizes were given out Thursday night at Virtual Bingo Night! Special thanks to Jenn O'Connell, Kristi Laverty, & Leslie Carpenter for organizing the important advance logistics and all the volunteers who made the night a success, including Liz Normand, Mrs. Schriener, Ms. Bliss, Mrs. Bruschino, Mrs. Curran, Mr. Vose, Mrs. Bilello, Mrs. Flower, & Mrs. Tierney. With a few technical difficulties here and there, we were lucky to have such flexible and capable Bingo enthusiasts to keep the fun going. You're all winners in our book!
