NEW! Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Duffy, November 27 - December 1. Many volunteers are needed for this fun event to run smoothly. If you are interested in helping, please sign up here.

NEW!  Holiday Helpers

Each year the Duffy Service Projects committee assists local families during the holidays by filling children’s wish lists. If you are interested in helping this year, please email Shannon Pecorelli for more information on how you can assist.   (Link to: shannonpecorelli@gmail.com)

We are also looking for someone to take this amazing program over next year!  If you’d like to shadow this year, learn the ropes, and lead this effort in 2024, please reach out to Shannon.

NEW! Share the JOY of reading!

It’s almost December! Have you started thinking “out with the old and in with the new?” If you have gently used books in your home that your family is ready to pass along, consider sending them to Duffy for our children's book drive!

Gently Used Children’s Book Drive: Monday, December 4th- Friday, December 8th

A collection box for donations will be located in the main lobby.

It’s our Get a Book, Give a Book yearly celebration! During the week of December 18th, all Duffy Dragons will have the opportunity to visit our Winter Wonderland Bookstore to pick out a gently used book for winter break reading as well as choose one to wrap and bring home to give as a gift for a sibling, neighbor, friend, relative, etc. Our “bookstore” is stocked with your donations. Please consider cleaning out your bookshelves at home during the next few weeks. Thank you!

Food Drive: Senior Girl Scout Troop 10485 is running a food drive to benefit the Town of West Hartford Food Pantry.  See attached flyer for details.

Celebrating National Native American Heritage Month 2023

November is National Native American Heritage Month. Duffy’s Parent Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee is pleased to share information, activities, and resources for student and families to enjoy together.

Whether you want to help or want to learn or both, don't hesitate to reach out to one of our co-chairs, Tracy Wu Fastenberg (tfastenberg@gmail.com), Francesca Knerr (flknerr@gmail.com), or Kristin Churila (kchurila@gmail.com) or join the Committee via Konstella. Together we can help support the Duffy Community to be a safe, mindful, welcoming place for all to thrive.

The Fundraising Committee--spearheaded by Steph Monteith and Steph Dominello--hit it out of the park this month by organizing both the hugely successful (and fun!) Parent's Night Out and the Lyman Orchards fundraiser. A huge thank you to the Stephs and their amazing team!

Also a big shoutout to Kelsey Rothert for organizing Conference Week snacks and meals for all of our hard-working teachers during conference week, as well as all the amazing parents who brought in snacks and other goodies.
