On Monday, May 22nd, author and illustrator Dan Santat will join West Hartford for a virtual event complete with an interactive art demonstration. This virtaul event is open to readers and artists of all ages.

Mr. Santat has published over one hundred books for children including The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend, which won the Randolph Caldecott Medal in 2015; best-selling books Are We There Yet? and  After the Fall (How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again), and his most recent book, an autobiographical middle-grade graphic novel, A First Time for Everything.

Grab your pens, markers, colored pencils, paints, crayons, canvas, and paper, and we look forward to your family joining in the virtual fun!

Registration is required.

This event is presented by West Hartford Parent Community Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Groups; West Hartford Community of Concern; West Hartford Public Schools; John P. Webster Library at First Church West Hartford; and All In! Early Childhood Educators for Equity. Special thanks to West Hartford Greater Together Community Fund; EDI Committees / PTOs at Braeburn and Duffy Elementary Schools.

New! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help with the Duffy Fair on June 2, 2023. Event time: 5-7:30pm. Rain Date June 9th, 2023.  We need all the helpers we can get to make the Duffy Fair a huge success again this year.

NEW! Volunteers Needed: PTO Board

The Duffo PTO is seeking volunteers to fill 2 key spots on its board for 2023-2024 School Year. (No experience is needed; just a desire to pitch in and help make the Duffy community great!)
Vice President: The VP shadows the President during the upcoming school year with the goal of taking over as President in 2024-2025. Come learn the ropes and pitch in where needed!
Treasurer Elect: Are you organized, good with budgeting and skilled in Excel? The Treasurer Elect shadows our current Treasurer for the upcoming school year with the goal of serving as Treasurer in 2024-2025. No prior accounting experience needed!
If interested, please email Kim Molinaro, PTO Volunteer Coordinator, at kimmolinaro@gmail.com.

PTO meetings
If you missed the last PTO meeting, we were joined by Lorna from the Board of Education. If you're interested in reading about what she shared, you can take a look at the meeting minutes on our Duffy PTO webpage. Our next meeting, which is the final meeting of the year, will be on Monday, June 5.

Save the Date!  Duffy Fair is Friday, June 2nd, 5 - 7:30pm.  Rain date is Friday, June 9th, 5-7:30pm. More details to come.

Teacher Appreciation Week was a huge success thanks to the hard work of Alison Bethke and everyone who volunteered to bring food and help out. Thank you all for demonstrating how much our teachers mean to us!

Thank you also to all who helped welcome the families of our incoming Kindergarten class. Carrie Ann Cloud did a beautiful job, once again, of organizing this effort. Carrie Ann, you are a rockstar volunteer and we appreciate all you do!
