New! Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month 2023

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15^th to October 15^th each year. The theme for 2023 is Latinos: Driving Prosperity, Power, and Progress in America and the Duffy Parent Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee is pleased to share information, activities, and resources for student and families to enjoy together. From local to national, events to attend to books to read at home, there’s something for everyone!

Whether you want to help or want to learn or both, don't hesitate to reach out to one of our co-chairs, Tracy Wu Fastenberg (tfastenberg@gmail.com), Francesca Kneer (flknerr@gmail), or Kristin Churila (kchurila@gmail.com) or join the Committee via Konstella. Together we can help support the Duffy Community to be a safe, welcoming place for all to thrive.

IMMEDIATE NEED: Staff Appreciation Committee. Help recognize the hard-working Duffy staff on various professional days, including National Nurse, Admins and Custodian Days. If interested, email kimmolinaro@gmail.com.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

IMMEDIATE NEED: Yard Goats Chair. Attending the Yard Goats game together has become a wonderful Duffy tradition. While the event isn’t until the spring, we need a volunteer ASAP to help select a date, then coordinate and promote ticket sales. Bonus: free goat swag! Interested? Email kimmolinaro@gmail.com.

We're in full swing collecting donations for the virtual auction that accompanies Parents' Night Out. If you would like to donate (business service, tickets, vacation house, etc.), please email Steph Dominello and Steph Monteith - duffyptofundraiser@gmail.com. Duffy family donations will be highlighted!

New! Community Event:

OAH Strides is a new philanthropic entity of Orthopedic Associates of Hartford with the mission of promoting physical and emotional health through movement in the under-resourced population of the greater Hartford area. Thus far, OAH Strides has funded grants to purchase sports equipment for a variety of teams and leagues for the 2023 fall season. OAH Strides is planning its inaugural fundraising event - a 5k and 1k kids fun run on Oct. 7th (See attached flyer). This will be a fun community event with a bounce house, food trucks, DJ,

face painting and other kids activities to be held at the beautiful Simsbury Meadows. We are hoping to recruit more runners! If you are not a runner but are interested in volunteering with the event please reach out to Kaitlyn Ware at kaitstefanski@gmail.com.
