First PTO Meeting: Friday, September 6 @ 2pm at Duffy. All are welcome! The Duffy PTO is a small group of volunteers that organizes events for students and staff; holds fundraisers; and distributes funds for field trips, school equipment/supplies and more. Meetings alternate between in person/virtual and day/evening. If you can't attend in person, a zoom link will be going out; watch for details.
Curriculum Night: Curriculum Night will be held on Thursday, September 12th. Grades K-2 will be 5:30-6:15 and Grades 3-5 will be 6:30-7:15. See you there!
Thursday, September 19: the Annual Duffy Welcome Back Social! All new Duffy families are invited to a pizza dinner from 5:00-6:00pm at the Duffy Courtyard. All current and new families are invited to the ice cream social from 6:00-7:00pm at the Duffy Playground.
Nurse Donations Needed: Nurse Addamo is looking for the following donations:
- Boys underwear sizes 5-8.
- Socks for all ages for kids age 5-10
- Girls leggings, sizes 5-10
- Small boys sweat pants sizes 5-7
Baking Club!: Students in grades 4 and 5 are invited to join the new Duffy Baking Club, which meets after school on Thursdays from 3:20 - 4:45. The first session will be held weekly from September 19 - October 17. This program is limited to 10 participants, so interested families are encouraged to sign up early. Cub Scouts Info Night!: Duffy's Cub Scout Pack 161 will be holding two open houses next week to learn more about the pack. Cub Scouts is open to both girls and boys in grades K-5. For more information, email recruiting@
It takes a village to pull off all of the various PTO events that happen throughout the year, and we're seeking volunteers for the following positions:
- URGENT NEED: Volunteer Coordinator(s): Work with the outgoing VC to learn the ropes and recruit volunteers for the various PTO committees and events held throughout the year. The VC also attends monthly PTO meetings (held both virtually and in person). No experience is needed, just good planning and organization skills!
- Conference Week Chair(s): During conference weeks in November and March, we treat Duffy staff to lunch and other goodies. Seeking 2 people to handle choosing and coordinating the events, getting quotes for food, recruiting volunteers to help and being on hand for the events if needed.
- Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (EDI) Committee Chair(s): Seeking 1-2 people to plan fun, meaningful ways to grow awareness and understanding, and celebrate Duffy’s diversity. Past activities have included Illuminate West Hartford, Duffy Citizens of Equity Project, and collaborative, district-wide events.
