How the PTO is Giving Back to Duffy
Fri, Feb 9 3:32pm

Happy Friday, Duffy Community!

As you may have heard, the PTO’s recent fundraising events have been very successful; thank you SO MUCH to our generous Duffy community (and the hard work of the PTO Fundraising Committee)! This means that, this year, the PTO has been able to substantially increase the amount of funding provided to the school; in total so far this year, we are giving over $12,000 with more funding to come!

Here's an overview of where some of the funding is going:

• We've fulfilled the school's ENTIRE WISH LIST of items, including 4 new ipads; climbing/scaler net and frame for the gym; a new 20-bike bike rack; 4 sand/water tables for K students; and a variety of classroom enhancements, including new books, furniture, rugs, storage items, gel boards and more.

• We’re providing funds for a field trip for each grade, including Old Sturbridge Village, kids shows at Bushnell Theater and Playhouse on Park, and the CT Historical Society.

• Funding for enrichment activities, including 2 author visits to the school and the continuation of the robotics club for fourth graders.

Future enhancements may include some big-ticket items like a $10,000 shade structure for the playground, an accessible playground piece (considering musical instruments similar to Jonathan's Dream playground), an upgraded outside playhouse/library and more!

Have an opinion on how to spend PTO funds? Join us, make your voice heard and help make change happen. Our next meeting will be virtual on 3/7; watch the e-blasts for details.

Have a great weekend!
