If you have a boy or girl entering grades K-5 please consider involving them in Cub
Scouts! Duffy Pack 161 is always looking to welcome new Scouts to our Pack. An Official Joining Night is scheduled for September 10th from 6:30-7:30pm in the
Cafeteria. Leaders and Scouts will be on hand to answer questions, there will be
displays of activities, and there will be a Pinewood derby demonstration!
Cub Scouting is a family-orientated program designed specifically to address the needs of
younger boys and girls. Scouts are broken into Dens based upon grade. Meetings are generally
at Duffy one to two times a month with a focus on a specific topic or principle. The Cub Scout
Pack is made up of all the Dens and meets every other or every third month at a Pack Meeting
lead by the Cubmaster. This meeting highlights achievements and badges earned in each Den
for a given time period.
In addition, Dens or the Pack may meet off-site to participate in various activities throughout
the year. A sample of activities include: the Pinewood Derby, Camping, Hiking, Visiting First
Responders (West Hartford Police, Fire Fighters, EMTs, LifeStar), Service projects such as flag
planting and pick up at a local cemetery, and Assorted Team Building Activities.
All leaders and parents involved with Scouting are required to be trained in order to deliver a
safe, quality program.
