TAKE ACTION! Ask Our Legislators to Make School Funding A Priority
The next Oregon legislative session is coming up! This longer session runs 160 days, from January to June 2025. Right now, legislators are setting their priorities for the next biennium. As the state is in a budget shortfall, it is crucial we remind our lawmakers that public education funding must be a top priority. Now is the time.
Please take a moment this month and as often as you can thereafter to email our State Senator and Representative asking them to make public school funding a priority this legislative session and fully fund the Quality Education Model (QEM) for our children. Their future depends on it.
Who is my State Senator and State Representative?
The Duniway school district boundaries are served by:
- Senate District 21: Kathleen Taylor (kathleentaylor@oregonlegislature.gov)
- House District 41: Mark Gamba (MarkGamba@oregonlegislature.gov)
How do I send them a message about making public school funding a priority?
The Oregon PTA has made this process quick and easy! Send your legislators a message through the Oregon PTA Take Action page (customizable template letter).
We have also posted a template letter for your use (see attached and find on the Konstella More tab >> Files and Links >> Duniway Advocacy Committee).
When should I contact them?
As soon as possible! It is best for our legislators to hear from their constituents before the start of the 2025 legislative session. Remember - they represent us!
Thank you for your help in our community advocacy!
