Duniway Community Read Cancelled - Will Reschedule Soon!
Mon, Oct 12 3:28pm
Hi folks,

Our scheduled Community Read on The Gift of Failure lands at the same time as the Sellwood Middle School PTA meeting and we know that many of you may want to attend that meeting, so we’ve decided to cancel this Thursday’s Community Read. We will find a new date for our discussion so stay tuned!

----------------------------------------------------

Join fellow Duniway parents, neighbors, teachers, and community members for a small-group adult discussion about The Gift of Failure - How the best parents let go so their children can succeed by Jessica Lahey.

We’ll gather in small groups to talk through the themes and topics from the book, guided by a discussion group leader to help keep the conversation flowing. We really enjoyed these conversations during our previous Community Discussions on The Anxious Generation and are excited to do it again!

Open to all community members! Bring a neighbor, grandparent, future Duniway parent, or anyone who’d be a thoughtful contributor to the conversation.

No need to read the book to join! We’ll discuss the themes and topics, and we’ve included a few related articles and podcasts below:

Lahey lays out a blueprint with targeted advice for handling homework, report cards, social dynamics, and sports. Most importantly, she sets forth a plan to help parents learn to step back and embrace their children’s failures. Hard-hitting yet warm and wise, The Gift of Failure is essential reading for parents, educators, and psychologists nationwide who want to help children succeed.
