Good afternoon Duniway!
On April 23, we’re heading to Salem to advocate for more for our schools - more funding, more support, more for what our children and schools need!
We will meet with key legislators to advocate for full state funding of the Quality Education Model (QEM)—the state’s own standard for providing a quality education for every Oregon student. Right now, our schools are funded far below this level and it's time to change that.
RSVP HERE to engage and advocate. We are democracy in action.
We have secured meetings with:
-
Senator Kathleen Taylor, Senate District 21
-
Senator Lew Frederick, Chair of Education Committee, Senate District 22
-
House Representative Mark Gamba, District 41
Details:
- Kids welcome: April 23rd is an early release day. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your child(ren) with you to lobby and participate in this process together.
- Timing: We will convene at the State Capitol Building in Salem at 1:15pm. Meetings are scheduled from 2 - 3:45 pm. See the RSVP form for carpool options.
- What to expect: Your presence is powerful. You do not need to have prior lobbying experience to participate. We will have several pre-identified speakers for our meetings. Most attendees will be present to fill the offices and show our legislators the depth of our movement. If you would like to speak, please indicate it on the RSVP form.
Oregon’s education funding decisions are happening now. This is a chance to show up for our kids and make sure lawmakers prioritize funding a quality education for our children.
Space is limited: RSVP here!
If you are not able to join our Lobby Day, another opportunity is just around the corner!
