Needed: Instructional Support Volunteers
Last year Duniway Elementary lost our two dedicated Educational Assistants (EAs.) EAs are school resources to help with all aspects of classroom and school needs. With an ongoing school district and state education funding deficit, we anticipate this downsizing of school funding to continue for the foreseeable future. While we now have a shared EA in Kindergarten, we’re still feeling an incredible loss across our 1st – 5th classrooms. EAs wore many hats serving our school community. Fortunately, our amazing community has stepped up to support the school and our children in many ways.
With the loss of these EAs, combined with large class sizes, we need help in our classrooms more than ever. Duniway teachers are seeking consistent volunteers to support all of our students in achieving their best. Working closely with Duniway teachers and administration, we have created instructional support volunteer program positions (official name of program coming soon).
The Duniway Educational Foundation is proud to partner with our teachers and dedicated community members to create a volunteer support program designed to meet the specific instructional needs of our classrooms. With Foundation funding, we will provide specialized training for volunteers, enabling them to confidently and effectively assist teachers during instructional blocks, helping every Duniway student reach their full potential.
This program depends on you, our dedicated caregivers, and community members. If you can commit just an hour or more a week, you can make a real difference for our teachers and our students.
Volunteers will be paired with a grade level that matches their interests and skills. Volunteers will receive specialized training to lead small groups and support key classroom learning goals. For Duniway families, we cannot guarantee that your volunteer area will be in your child's classroom. This is a community volunteer opportunity to broadly lift up and support Duniway.
Together, we can ensure our teachers have the support they need and our students have every opportunity to thrive.
