Are You Ready to Vote YES on the Cleveland High School Modernization Project?
Now that you have your ballot on hand, let's work together to get this bond over the finish line! Since funding to modernize Cleveland and Ida B Wells was not included in the 2020 bond measure, this upcoming bond is essential for equitable modernization of all PPS high schools. Cleveland is one of the last schools PPS promised to structurally overhaul over a decade ago. Cleveland’s modernization will provide a safe, secure technologically relevant and a climate sustainable school for our 21st century children. If we pass this bond measure, Cleveland will welcome its first class to a NEW school in 2028. That means Duniway’s 5th graders will have a new and safe high school to learn, explore, engage and thrive.
What is included in the May bond measure?
- New Cleveland High School on the existing school footprint
- Modernization of Ida B. Wells High School
- Completion of Jefferson High School
- Improved PPS athletic facilities
- Athletic hub at Marshall High School
- Safety infrastructure and security upgrades for elementary and middle schools
Over the next week, here’s how you can help:
- VOTE YES on bond measure 26-259 - finalize you ballot and drop it in the mail by Tuesday, May 20th!
- TALK with your community about the bond measure and what it means for our children and our community. Strong schools are community anchors for families, businesses and community engagement. Strong communities further support our children.
- ASK your community to vote YES on the bond measure. Talk with as many people you can. Ask if they received their ballot, have voted and remind them to get their ballot in the mail by Tuesday, May 20th.
- REMIND them that voting YES will NOT increase their property tax rate. It will renew the current tax rate.
In solidarity for our children and our schools,
