Come read a book relating to Hispanic culture!
In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15), the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Committee is looking for volunteer readers for each classroom to celebrate the diversity within our Earhart community!
Volunteer Readers will work with their teachers to find a date and time (from now until October 31) to come into the classroom and read a book (or two!). Volunteer Readers will get to choose their book(s) of choice, or ask their teacher, or ask the DEI Committee for their suggested list of books from our Earhart library. HERE is our online listing of school library books for Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month.
In addition, if time allows, please consider leading your classroom to create a flag for a Hispanic country. We will provide the country and poster boards; you and your classroom will provide the creativity and use whatever medium available to create the flag. All completed flags will be placed around school to represent the 21 Hispanic countries we celebrate this month. 1) Mexico 2) Colombia 3) Spain 4) Argentina 5) Perú 6) Venezuela 7) Chile 8) Ecuador 9) Guatemala 10) Cuba 11) Bolivia 12) Dominican Republic 13) Honduras 14) Paraguay 15) El Salvador 16) Nicaragua 17) Costa Rica 18) Panama 19) Uruguay 20) Puerto Rico 21) Equatorial Guinea
Time commitment is approximately:
10-15 minutes for book reading
30-45 minutes for poster making.
The DEI Committee encourages volunteers for all classrooms. Please have Level 1 Clearance. If you have any questions, please reach out to the DEI Committee at inclusion@earhartpta.org.
Many thanks in advance!
