We are only two days away from the Turkey Trot! Thank you to everyone who participated in raising funds for this event. We surpassed our initial fundraising goal of $25,000 in the first two weeks, and have also surpassed our updated fundraising goal of $40,000 !!!
As a reminder, the schedule for the event is as follows:
TK - 1st grades: 9-10 AM
2nd - 3rd grades: 10-11 AM
4th - 5th grades: 11-12 PM
We have received a lot of questions about the event and would like to share some of the frequently provided answers here.
1. What are students doing during the designated hour? / How does the Turkey Trot work?
Your student(s) will be walking the area of the of the blacktop where the basketball hoops are (same route as the Halloween parade). EVERY single student in the school will be provided with a Turkey Trot bib to wear the morning of the event. Our lovely volunteers will mark the bibs each time a student completes a lap.
If your student collected pledges for laps on pledgestar, their total number of laps will be inputted after the event concludes. You will be sent a link with instructions on how much and how to pay for any pledges after the event.
2. Can parents attend the event without volunteering?
YES!!! We encourage parents to attend and cheer on the students as they trot the blacktop!! Parents may enter through the gate by the portables.
3. When will my student(s) receive their Turkey Trot T-shirt?
If you raised $60 in donations or received the minimum amount of pledges needed by the deadline of 11/7, your student's shirt was ordered and received. The T-shirt will be distributed the morning of the Turkey Trot, along with the bibs, by their classroom teacher.
4. Can we pay for pledges or donate in cash/check?
YES!! Please submit all cash/check donations to the front office. Please make sure that you label your donations with your student's name!!
5. Is every student participating even if they did not sign-up on Pledgestar or raise any funds?
YES!! The Turkey Trot is a school wide event for everyone!
6. Can we get updates on how many more students need to sign up in our classroom to reach the 80% threshold for a pajama day/movie party?
Your Turkey Trot committee is made up of 3 parent volunteers. We are doing our very best to push out the most up-to-date information to everyone. We appreciate the enthusiasm and support and ask for your patience as we juggle day of logistics in the days leading up to the event as well. That being said, please continue to encourage your classes to simply CREATE and SIGN UP on Pledgestar to get closer to earning the PJ/Movie day!
7. My kid's turkey is missing/not on the wall, but I signed up!
Please message Elaine Ma on Konstella if you think your child's turkey is missing! The windy weather has taken some of the turkeys. We will make sure your child's turkey makes it back up there!
8. When will the pizza parties be? Is it going to be the day of the Turkey Trot?
The class wide pizza parties will NOT be taking place the same day as the Turkey Trot. We will be coordinating with Mr. Dunn-Ruiz and the rest of the staff on a day to host the pizza parties for each grade before the winter break.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!!
